Osaka Massive

I'm sore from all the jumping around I did at The Grand Cafe in Osaka on Saturday night. It was one crazy Halloween party. From the angels dancing with us, to the plentiful drunk girls, and the "Dallas Cowboy" cheerleaders, it was one hell of a night.

The weekend started with the Doves concert on Firday night, which was alright. The night then picked up with some major shenanigans at the Blow Bar which spilled over to a late night yakiniku restaurant. Meat that was like grilled butter...mmm mmm!

Saturday began with an early lunch at the Hawaiian burger joint on top of Namba Parks followed by some leisurely shopping. It was Thai for dinner, then, on Tash's recommendation, an interesting little place called Bar Africa (or something like that) with some cool people and "Africa Shots." Then it was off to the Grand Cafe where it was on til the early morn.

Hangover Sunday was cured by a couple pain killers and an All You Can Eat Chinese lunch. Hopped on the bus back to Tokers, and after a 3 hour nap, I was home.

Now, where's my bed?

Like A Modded X-Box, Just Ghetto-er

I've been downloading games for the PS2 like crazy the last few weeks. Seems like all the companies are releasing games onto the market in time for the Xmas shopping season. So far, the new crack is NBA 2K6, but there are a few others like, Shadow of the Colossus and The Warriors which are getting some play time as well.

Speaking of the NBA, I've got my fantasy team all drafted and ready to go. I got a league running with some boys back home, so it should be some good Fantasy GM fun.

Tomorrow is the big Doves concert in Osaka. It should be a Massive weekend.

Stay tuned kids.

Pass The Courvoisier

What happens when you give me a half dozen bottles of half-full liqour? I make girls vomit, that's what. I was hooked up with these bottles and one shot glass by Ingrid and made my way around the Mabuhay Grand Closing serving up shots. One unlucky girl ended up in the bathroom after one of them. I don't remember much else from the night but it was hella fun, aside from peeing out the ass the next day. I swear, double headers in the city are murder on the stomach.

Still Sore

I spent last Sunday in Hiwasa lifting heavy-ass mikoshi in the annual Hiwasa Autumn Matsuri. My entire upper body aches from the 1000 pound wooden shrine that me and a team of 30 other men had to carry around the beach.

This past weekend's Pizza Hut Days (8th, 9th, and 10th of every month!) was a hit. I'll stay away from the Korean BBQ pizza from now on though, since mayo has no place on a pizza.

Face Lift

A little nip and tuck and we have ourselves a new look here at The Full Court Press. The header pic is of the view from my balcony here in Awa.

Anyways...

In between sessions of my new NBA 2K6 Franchise and my Winning Eleven 9 Master League last night, I managed to watch the movie, Irreversible. Not exactly light viewing. Its much more confrontational than it is entertaining (is it even meant to be entertaining?) but it made for an eye-opening Monday night.

Take a look at the new iPod Top 5. Look for those albums and give them a listen. They deserve it.

Grand Opening, Grand Closing

So I just got an email today from the ever fabulous Ingrid telling us all that she will be moving her bar to new digs. Mabuhay has been the eye of the Tokushima nightlife typhoon of which I've been a part of for the past two years and change. Many a night have been enjoyed and forgotten in that tiny hole. The old place was small, cramped and most times had drinks spilt everywhere, but it was cozy, the ambiance always inviting. I find it somewhat bizarre eulogizing a bar but in a way that place encapsulates the Tokushima experience. Like Tokushima, Mabuhay is small and out of the way but you usually find fun everytime, and you do it clutching a beer while screaming, "Total Eclipse of The Heart."

The new place opens Oct. 21st.
