More Snow With a Side of Bananas

It snowed through this weekend which left a bunch of ice and melting snowmen in my parking lot. The snow on Saturday night made almost every taxi driver disappear which made it a bitch trying to get home. The past few days have been the coldest I've experienced since I've been here. Though I think I've been here too long since now 5°C is freezing to me. Australia is 3 days away, with a night in Osaka tomorrow. Last I heard, it was 36°C in Sydney! Eat it! I arrive in Sydney on Dec. 22 and leave for Brisbane on the 24th, then back to Sydney on the 29th for New Years and finally back to Japan on Jan. 4th. Its gonna be massive!

I caught King Kong at the theatres on Friday. It was awesome. Probably one of the best movies I've seen all year. It was also the first time I've seen a movie in the theatres in almost six months. Watching movies in the theatres as opposed to watching a Telescene copy on my tv truly does make a difference. Though a dvdrip usually wins over paying 1800Yen ($18CDN) in my books, King Kong is a worthy exception. The "Kong vs. the three T-Rexes" scene alone was well worth the money and the time (187 minutes!).

That's it for now.

Snow

Its fucking cold over here in Awa City. For the first time for as long as I've been here, its snowed for two consecutive days. Granted, the snow melts as soon as it hits the ground, but still, its coming down like dandruff from that kid who doesn't shower in the morning.

My laptop's ac adapter shorted last week and I'm in the process of getting a new one from Getpartsonline.com. I think 3 people total read the Full Court Press, including myself, but in the infinitisemal chance that someone out there has used getpastsonline.com and is here reading the Press, leave a comment.

Check out this video I came across today. Its a few months old, and many regard it as a fake, but its purportedly to be a new 3D headset gaming device by Nintendo dubbed the Nintendo On. The video is pretty sweet, and the system looks awesome, but I highly doubt its real.

Down to just 9 days before I'm in Australia, and for the past few weeks I've been pondering on getting a PSP to accompany me on the trip. News today has it that firmware 2.01 and 2.50 have been partially cracked using an expolit found in the Grand Theft Auto game which may lead to full-on home brew for newer PSPs. That would be sweet.

Merry Christmas kids.

Jumping the Queue at Karaoke and Other Fun Things to do on the Weekend

This past Friday night was Audrey's birthday party. We were at Times Cafe for some shenanigans then over to Ingrid's for the usual. Early Saturday morning, accompanied by 3 hours sleep and a mild hangover, was Shinmachi elementary school English day. I managed to get through making udon with the kids, and dressing up as Santa only to be mauled by 4th Graders yanking at Santa's beard. After some Pizza Pockets and a nap, it was off to basketball where Awa Gai got smoked 71-52 by high school kids who played like they were on coke. Saturday evening was spent buying a multi-tap and playing Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 battle-royale style over at Rory's. I bounced home around 1am and spent a rare Saturday night in my own bed.

This Smackdown vs. Raw '06 is gonna be the end of my regular nights of sleep. I'm deep into the G.M. Mode, which is crack once you get the hang of it.

Check out the new mixtape God's Gift which features tracks by Nas and Jay-Z remixed together. More importantly, the CD features some concert snippets featuring Jay-Z and Nas performing together from a recent concert in New Jersey. One can only hope it's a little tease into a possible upcoming collabo. The new Cunninglinguists CD, A Piece of Strange is tight too. Check them out.

That's all for now kids.
