Good Riddance

Last Saturday's Good Riddance Night Out has earned legendary status as the biggest, baddest, nastiest, take all your lunch money and kick you while you're down night out in the past 2 years. It was simply Massive.

So the first of a wave of my friends have begun to leave Japan and return home, while fresh new faces take their place. It truly is a bittersweet time. I'd like give some shot outs (not shout, 'shot' like when when you put you gun finger in the air and go, "buck, buck, buck!") to my friends from the last year or two who are leaving on a jet plane. So thanks to Jody for being a good friend. To Joe for calling me cool. To Craig, Kirsten, Jane, and Marita for being a part of the "gang". To Amie, who I should have gotten to know better. To Steve for the greatest stories. And to everyone else whom I've ever shared a drink and good times with... a bid you a fond Good Riddance.

Fried Chicken in a Cup, Booger Boy, and Iron Mike

So I just got back from Kyoto where I went and saw Gion Matsuri. Its the annual festival where huge wheeled shrines are pulled around Kyoto's main shopping district while hundreds of thousands of people (like this little boy who had snot going in and out of his nose) line the streets and watch. Its also an excuse for the same hundreds of thousands of people to get drunk as fuck in public, something which is perfectly legal in Japan and pretty much encouraged. And there is no better drunken festival food than my favorite, the good ol' chicken-on-a-stick-in-a-cup...chicken karaage.

Wandering the city on Sunday, we came across an art exhibit put on by the Kyoto Artspace. Young artists from all over the Kansai region came to present, perform, and create some quite imaginitive and interesting stuff. From the Tyson graffiti portrait, to the funny/creepy girls in the masks clowning around, to the hot photographer with the Nikon in one hand and an Asahi Super Dry in the other, the Kyoto Artspace made the trip for me.

You Got the Touch!

So I read today that The Transformers live action movie has been confirmed for production. Its to be directed by Michael Bay and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. So in other words, its either gonna rock so very, very hard, or its gonna suck so very, very bad. Let's just hope these cocksuckers don't piss all over one of the shining foundations of my childhood.
Link to the news article.
Now, where's that GI Joe live action movie at?

This coming Monday is Marine Day here in Japan so that means Long Weekend! I'll be headed to Kyoto tomorrow to check out the big Gion Matsuri festival. It should be a blast. I'll talk to you kids next week.

I Don't Like It Unless Its Brand New

I recieved my Ram chips last night, and boy my piece of shit is blazing now!

I highly recommend Kanye West's Summer School Mixtape. Its another of many preludes to the upcoming Late Registration album due out in August. This one is hot fya! I also gave the new Slum Village album a once-over, and on first impressions, I'm giving it a so-so.

Caught the new street racing movie, Initial D, last night. Initial D is based on the manga/anime/video game hit from Japan which features drift racers tearing up mountain roads. It was OK. I'm sure it'll make shitloads of money though.

Square One

I'm itching like a crack head looking for a hit after this weekend's sayonara party. Mosquitos were out in hords and Japanese repellant doesn't seem to work against those muthafuckers. So now I have more dots on my legs than a Hindu temple. One of my friends had brought one of those electric fly swatters. It made for hours of addictive fun frying those bitch-ass mosquitos. I want one of those.

On the recommendation from a few friends, they told me to create a blog on Xanga. I went over there and had a look around but the place reminds me too much of Asianavenue.com circa 1999. Xanga seems like its inhabited by thousands of Asian teenagers who have names like, 'AznGuRl808' and 'InTeGrAbOi' showing pics of their cousins in Hong Kong. I really don't know if one is any better than the other, but I'd rather stick this shithole than start up another.

Just got the new Slum Village album, Prequel to a Classic. I'll let you guys know how it is once I get a chance to listen to it.

I was up late last night killing Nazis. Medal of Honor: European Invasion for the PS2 is pretty intense. Nothing like spending an evening killing a few Gerrys.

Retards

I've gone and ordered a gb of ram for my laptop since its been running slower than a retard in the Special Olympics. Hopefully that and a reformat might speed things up on this piece of shit.

Been making a mix-cd for this Sayonara weekend. Its gonna be massive.

A Night at the Theatre

Saw War Of The Worlds last night and I didn't think too much of it. One of the comedy highlights of the evening, though, was the bizarre Anti-piracy commercial they played before the movie. Being Japanese added a strange mood to the clip, and for a sec I thought that it was a trailer for a Ringu-like movie. I let out a giggle when I realized what the ad was for.

The movie itself was decent at best but in no way did it justify the 1800yen price tag that was the price of admission. That, to paraphrase Dave Chappelle, is "crack prices!!"

Go watch Batman Begins.
